About The Park View Band

The Park View High School Band Program in Sterling, Virginia, is a place where students can grow as musicians, leaders, and teammates. Under the direction of Claude LeGrand, Director of Bands, students work together to achieve musical excellence while building skills that help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
As a 10-time Virginia Honor Band, the program has a long history of outstanding achievement and pride. Students have opportunities to perform in concerts, festivals, community events, and other special performances while representing Park View High School with excellence.
The Park View Band Program welcomes students of all backgrounds and experience levels. Through hard work, dedication, and a shared love of music, band members build lasting friendships, develop confidence, and create memories that will stay with them long after graduation.
More than just an organization, the Park View Band is a family that values respect, teamwork, and commitment. Together, we strive to inspire our school and community through the power of music while continuing a tradition of excellence.
Our Staff
Claude LeGrand, Director of Bands
Claude Dennis LeGrand Jr. is a Virginia native, originally from the Tidewater region. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees in Music Education, with an emphasis in percussion, from Hampton University.
Mr. LeGrand served for 19 years in Manassas Park City Schools, where he taught two years of mathematics, eight years of elementary music, and nine years as Director of Bands and Guitar at Manassas Park High School. Throughout his tenure, he also served as Drumline Instructor, building strong and consistent percussion programs. In recognition of his excellence in education, he was honored as the 2018 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award recipient by The Washington Post while at Manassas Park, and also received Teacher of the Year in 2026 at Park View HS.
He is currently in his fifth year as Director of Bands at Park View High School. Throughout his career, Mr. LeGrand has led his bands to numerous superior ratings and has provided students with exceptional performance opportunities. His ensembles have performed for the Washington Wizards, at Kings Dominion, Hersheypark, Universal CityWalk Orlando, for the Northern Virginia Community College Ice Hockey Team, Loudoun United FC, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Sweet Jazz Festival, and many other distinguished events.
Mr. LeGrand became a music educator to share the gift of musical performance with others. He believes that students learn in many different ways and that it is the responsibility of educators to meet each learner at their individual level. He is committed to fostering an environment where, through hard work and dedication, every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Jasmeen Miller, Assistant Director
Jasmeen Miller has been working with the Marching Patriots since 2016 as the Assistant Director of Bands. She grew up in Sterling, VA and had the opportunity to learn from the wonderful teachers at Sterling Middle and Park View High School. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor in Instrumental Music Education and George Mason University with a Master in Education Leadership.
Outside of school, Mrs. Miller enjoys spending time with her husband, birdwatching, listening to music and reading. She is an avid coffee drinker and loves scoping out local coffee shops in NOVA. In the fall, you can catch Mrs. Miller watching college football at home when not on the field working with the marching band– GO VOLS and GO PATRIOTS!
Colin Bouchillon, Percussion and Visual Instructor
Mr. Bouchillon has worked with high school marching bands in various capacities for more than 15 years. He began as a field clinician with the Altoona High School (PA) Marching Mighty Rails before moving to Virginia and serving as the assistant director of the Manassas Park High School Marching Cougars for 12 years.
At Park View, Mr. Bouchillon is a percussion and visual instructor and science teacher.
Danny Velasquez, Percussion Tech
Danny Velasquez has been teaching percussion for the Marching Patriots since 2025. His experience includes marching for four years here at Park View, as well as three years with Spectre Percussion. Danny is looking forward to working with our percussion students and helping them grow as both performers and learners.
Sandy Ross, Color Guard Instructor
Ms. Ross is one of the color guard instructors for this season! She has been teaching marketing and EPF at Park View since 2020. She began working with the marching band in 2021. Ms. Ross was a member of color guard both in HS at Lake Braddock in Fairfax County and at Virginia Tech-Go Hokies! Her youngest marches in the drumline at Dominion and her husband also marched in HS and at Virginia Tech as well. You could say they are a marching band family! She is looking forward to a great season!
